Sylvester Stallone compared Trump to the 2nd George Washington, and “a mythical character” during an America First Policy Institute Gala at Mar-a-Lago.
Sylvester Stallone happens to be one of the many celebrities who found their way to the America First Policy Institute Gala held at Mar-a-Lago. During the event, Sylvester Stallone hailed Donald Trump as ”the second George Washington.” Sylvester Stallone was the acting hero who went on to win the hearts of millions by playing Rocky, believing that no other than Donald Trump could have exhibited the stature he had.
He further went ahead to say that George Washington had never had such influence, just like Donald Trump has had.
Sylvester Stallone’s Tribute to Trump: A Mythical Character and the Second George Washington
Sylvester Stallone made his stance on Donald Trump known, even calling him the ”second George Washington.”
The 78-year-old actor of the Rocky saga introduced Donald Trump while delivering a speech on Thursday, November 14, at the America First Policy Institute Gala at Mar-a-Lago, in Palm Beach, Florida.
Sylvester Stallone said, “This is an entirely mythical character. My interest in mythology; no one else in the world could have done what he did, and I’m just amazed.”
In his speech, Sylvester Stallone further said that he was doing a comparison on Trump with both Jesus Christ and his film character, Rocky Balboa.
“Just one thing I want to say, and I really mean this,” Sylvester Stallone added. ”When George Washington defended his country, he didn’t know he was changing the world. Since without him you can only imagine what the world would look like. Guess what? We have the second George Washington. Congratulations!
When he was becoming a favorite for the Republican presidential nomination in 2016, Sylvester Stallone told Variety, in a short interview: ”I like Donald Trump. He’s a great Dickensian character. You know what I mean?… But I’m not sure how that translates to,” he laughed, ”running the world.”
Then, in October, during a Mipcom panel after publishing his book Apprentice in Wonderland: How Donald Trump and Mark Burnett Took America Through the Looking Glass, Variety’s co-editor-in-chief Ramin Setoodeh recalled that Trump was a little resentful of Stallone during the interviews because Burnett was producing The Contender with Stallone hosted on NBC while The Apprentice was being hosted on the same network by Trump.
According to Setoodeh, Trump once said, ”Sylvester Stallone wasn’t as good a television maker” and that he ”could not recall his lines and could not deliver the words on the prompter”.
“I think we really need to take this in,” Setoodeh said. ”Donald Trump was president for four years, the leader of the free world. And even now, he’s still fixated on the idea that he was a better reality star than Sylvester Stallone.”.
